Subsquid and Talisman Innovate with Metadata Caching for Web3

The Subsquid and Talisman teams are proud to officially reveal to their respective communities the successful completion of a series of integrations, marking the start of a partnership that is sure to enhance how users experience and interact with the Dotsama ecosystem. Up to now, Subsquid has been implemented to push data to users of Talisman’s comprehensive accounts view. Already, discussions have begun for further integrations, each intended to make Web3 easier and more accessible for Talisman’s ever-growing user base.

Talisman is a community-led wallet built to streamline the way in which users experience the Dapps and tokens created for the increasingly vast Polkadot and Kusama Paraverse. Talisman’s development team aims to give users real control over their crypto assets, enabling them to leverage the most innovative solutions in Web3 with ease. This pursuit, of course, involves a great deal of technical complexity on the backend. Subsquid’s natively multichain data processing solution has made it much more convenient for Talisman’s developers.

Subsquid is the only on-chain API framework and SDK that provides full support for external API calls, a feature that has empowered Talisman to radically reduce the number of requests necessary to show data to users. By enabling the augmentation of chain data with external metadata, such as asset and network names, symbols, and logos, Subsquid has made it possible for Talisman’s data engineers to combine everything into a single endpoint.

Also worth noting is that Talisman’s Squid API has been configured to refresh metadata on a regular basis and check if there have been any changes to this information. In this way, the Squid serves as a kind of ‘web cache for Web3.’

“Talisman brings the experience of interacting with a crypto wallet to a whole new level. I believe that the exceptional design of Talisman together with a compelling story to tell (the Paraverse) will attract the next million users to the DotSama ecosystem,” says Dmitry Zhelezov, CEO of Subsquid. “We are thrilled that our technology has enabled Talisman’s development team to access data in such a way that makes the experience of their users even more seamless.”

"Subsquid are providing critical infrastructure for the whole ecosystem, enabling user-facing products like ours to focus on providing rich and coherent experiences for the users of today and tomorrow,” remarks Jonathan Dunne, Co-Founder and Head of Technology at Talisman. “The importance of middleware in a multi-chain environment is only going to grow, so we’re really pleased that Subsquid are providing a high-quality product here.”

Users of Talisman (which can be downloaded here) will be able to see the result of this partnership for themselves simply by opening the wallet and experiencing just how smoothly it operates. The Subsquid team is thrilled by the new Squid use cases proposed by Talisman and looks forward to collaborating on further innovations in the near future.

Upcoming Community Events

Here at Subsquid we are beyond excited to be working together with Talisman on improvements to the Web3 UX in Dotsama and beyond. To maximize the impact of our partnership, we will be announcing an entire series of joint community events including two live events, one hosted by Talisman and another by ourselves, and an NFT giveaway that will be open to any Talisman community member!

We’ve also got something else very special planned. Stay tuned… we’ll announce it in due time. We’re sure you’re going to like it!
